The WriTer* in Me!

30/12/2006

back back back. i told myself to wake up early today to finish up on my personal statement but i decided to be a lazy worm(: so up till now, 12nn i have been doing random stuff.yea i just hate writting to impress.
well anw let's intro more about my life in myanmar or rather the people who had impact on my life in myanmar

contestant number 1: Dar-meh
six years old little boy abandoned on the streets and kept in an orphanage in the city area.daily routine:go school, 10min of free time, go back to the simple room with wooden board make-shift beds (triple decker) and time and again be bullied by the bigger boys in the home. but hah he caught my attention the first time I saw him lining up with the other boys to be selected by the principle of the school to go for an excursion, probably the only one in his whole life, to the amusement park. he was so, so stiff, wont even smile when i gave him a sweet. but i like him!haha he sort of looks like feng de lun(: thick brows, big eyes, just cute. n so i decided to adopt him for the excursion with another boy. darmeh was super sweet throughout the trip!he would offer me a seat on the concrete, pull my hand to wherever he wanted to go, and even offered me his favourite raisin from the rum icecream!!*melt*it just felt superb to be able to bring laughter n joy to this poor boy's life.just imagine how traumatised he is living in fear of being robbed of his belongings everyday!it's like we gave the boys some presents like colouring books, shirts and slippers and they were all snatched away from darmeh by the big boys the moment he stepped foot into the house in the evening.n he just held on to his shirt(the one i specially reserved for him) and weave through the big boys up the stairs.argh

contestant number 2:pioeh pioeh
thirteen year old pretty girl from a home in the rural village.some cant tell whether the kids we entertained were really from the home or just villagers nearby who wanted to join in the fun but i deduce that shes one because of the name.haha i mean theres another one called mon mon, and another called chueh chueh and i guessed that they werent given names before they were sent to the home n thus they should be orphans.but well anw, this is a very active and cooperative kid.shes 13 but doesnt mind all the kiddo things that we did with the 7/8 yr old children n sang and danced and looked like she enjoyed herself.the best thing was that she offered to help us clear up the messy room full of crayons and colouring sheets after the younger ones evacuated the room for games outside.haha n then the chemistry came when we were giving out the food we cooked and she just came and attempted to talk to me (I SERIOUSLY didnt understand a bit of what she said).nonetheless we just smiled and this sudden idea struck me and i decided to teach her cheh-gor-ba!hhaha shes so smart she got it without having me to teach in words!hahah then the WHOLE VILLAGE of kids came and surrounded us and watched us play cheh-gor-ba in the middle of the street till the sun set.hahhaha how exotically romantic.

Howdy!
it's been close to 20 days since I last blogged and I have been getting lazier by the days bleah.
Busy with UNi applications now, especially since I found out that UCAS deadline is 15jan instead of some random time in june that I always assume to be true.DAMN. haha i hope mr wong gets my email n quickly edit my essay for me. :S sheesh

well anw, Myanmar was super super fun and fulfilling. The best part was that we had the chance to meet the government people and we were sort of guarded and protected by them throughout the whole trip and everything went quite smoothly. The people there were uber helpful and kind!haha with noob kids trying to cook in their villages, they didnt complain or smirk or anything but were all very willing to lend a hand!

and i thought i hated kids.but in the end i think i found out something new about myself: I HATE spoilt kids. hahah angelic and independent kids in myanmar are angelic. I made so many kiddo friends over there without knowing how to speak burmese properly. the few phrases i know includes: hello, thankyou, bye bye, sing, dance, sit down, come here, stand up, go into one line, you are beautiful :D so much of communication was done in hand signs and hahah at the end of the week, i even used hand sign when i talk to my teammates there!

blog more when im back. needa go nynp alumni games day:)

hate to be sick.
i couldnt even walk straight when i got off the bed yesterday and i swear it has nothing to do with the things i drank at 4/11 class bbq!hahah anw that was fun la. ahhah good food and good fun with indian poker and of course good entertainment from yours truly and pheywa and gwenlyn.hahah
saw loads of pictures taken by joyce and waiyee from their prom too!
oh just to add, my mum just saw my photos and chose to keep commenting that my mouth's too big and how ugly i look in each photo.and being a rebellious kid, that just helped me in getting even more egoistic.it helps you know, if not all confidence on my personal image would have been destroyed since years ago. and if what she said was meant to merely "tell the truth and the truth always hurts" or so she claims and not tramper on my ego, she need not do that a few times in a day, a few days every week and alot alot of times in 18 years.poof im just pissed ok.some day if i succumb to cosmetic surgery, blame my mum.i just wanted her to say smth like "woah that's my girl" is that something so hard?
poof
well anyway im leaving for myanmar from 18th to 25th dec for humanitarian trip!hope it will be fruitful(:my first OCIP, dont know what to expect and all but ya, kailing can adapt to anything so no worries on that.
